Cased Spanish Cross in Silver 'CEJ 900'

Description

Cased Spanish Cross in Silver with Swords (Spanienkreuz in Silber mit Schwertern). The Spanish Cross (Spanienkreuz) was instituted on 14 April 1939, to recognize those German Forces who served in the Spanish Civil War (July 1936 - March 1939). The Spanish Cross was awarded in four classes, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold with Diamonds. The bronzed and silver classes came in two categories, with swords (combatant) and without swords (non-combatant), while the Gold and Gold with Diamonds classes were awarded only with swords. The Spanish Cross in Silver with Swords was awarded to persons who had also had contact with the enemy during the hostilities, of this grade 8304 examples were awarded. The silver construction cross is nicely maker marked 'CEJ 900' indicating production by the company of 'C.E. Juncker' from Berlin. The cross is having a functional pin and catch. The case is in good condition with some normal usage to the corners. Rare original cased Spanish Cross in silver in very good condition!
