 Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal 'Turtle' Camouflage Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its two-tone yellow/green coloured turtle camouflage pattern overpaint, a Luftwaffe decal is clearly visible beneath the paint, the decal has probably been dug out. There is some rust along the edges of the shell. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact and the original liner cord is present as well, there are some minor damages to the liner, see photos. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64'. 'Q' is indicating production by the company of 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number 'R053'. A faint NCO's (Uffz.) name has been painted in the reverse interior neck guard apron. The helmet is complete with its original chinstrap as found together.  Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal 'Schildpad' Camouflage Gevechtshelm (Stahlhelm M40). De stalen M40 helm bevat nog het grootste deel van zijn originele tweekleurige geel/groene schildpad patroon camouflage verf, onder de verf is een Luftwaffe decal duidelijk zichtbaar, deze is wellicht tevoorschijn gehaald. Er is wat lichte roest langs de randen van de helmschaal. Alle drie de splitpennen zijn intact en aanwezig. Het binnenwerk van de helm is een M31 leren binnenwerk met alle acht de vingers in goede staat en ook het originele touwtje is aanwezig, het leer vertoont wat kleine beschadigingen, zie foto's. De helmschaal is gemarkeerd met maker en maat 'Q64'. 'Q' is de code van de firma 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. Achterin de binnenzijde van de nek van de helm staat een serienummer gestanst 'R053'. Er is vaagjes een naam geschilderd achter in de helm, deze is van een 'Unteroffizier'. De helm is compleet met zijn originele kinriempje zoals samen gevonden. Prachtige originele Luftwaffe 'Schildpad' Camouflage Helm!
