Polizei Double Decal M42 Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M42) and Gasmask Set. The stamped sheet steel construction M42 helmet retains almost all of its slightly textured field-grey paint, the paint is showing scratches and normal traces of usage. Both decals are in very good condition with some minor damage and scratches caused by usage, the Police decal is present for about 90%, the party shield decal is present for about 95%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner, the liner is approximately a size 57/58. The liner is in good condition, complete with original liner cord. The name of a Dutch Police member has been written on the liner; 'J.Middelkoop'. The shell is not visible maker marked, the size is '66'. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number. The helmet is complete with its original leather chinstrap, the chinstrap is in used condition. The M38 Gasmask Canister is complete with both long and short carrying straps. The gasmask is a Czech produced 1939 dated gasmask, probably issued to 2nd line personal like Police troops to save on materials. The filter is an 'FE41' type filter. The canister is showing a small dent. On top of the canister is painted '3e Komp. Schu.Po.' indicating 3rd Company 'Schutzpolizei', the same is painted on the bottom, a name has been removed from the bottom, see photos. This helmet and gasmask have recently been found together with a house-cleaning in a private household in Schiedam in the Netherlands. Great original Polizei helmet & gasmask set!
